"Elvis 75: Good Rockin' Tonight"

Και είναι ίσως η πρώτη φορά που μία συλλογή του Elvis, που αποτελείται μάλιστα από 100 τραγούδια, αρχίζει έτσι όπως ακριβώς έπρεπε. Με το πρώτο τραγούδι που ηχογράφησε εντελώς ερασιτεχνικά στα στούντιο της Sun Records το 1953, το περίφημο ‘’ My Happiness’’. Ακολουθεί το ‘’That's All Right’’, το πρώτο κομμάτι που ηχογράφησε επίσημα το 1954 αλλά και μια σειρά τραγουδιών (‘’ Blue Moon Of Kentucky’, ‘’Good Rockin' Tonight’’, ‘’Baby Let's Play House’’ και ‘’ Mystery Train’’) τα οποία θεωρούνται  σαν τα κύρια υπεύθυνα για την δημιουργία και την εξέλιξη του rockabilly. Από κει και πέρα θα  βρούμε χωρίς υπερβολή σχεδόν τα πάντα!

Από το πρώτο του Νο1 στις Η.Π.Α. , το ‘’Heartbreak Hotel’’(1956), μέχρι το τελευταίο του Νο1 σε Βρετανία και Ευρώπη, το ΄’A Little Less Conversation’’(2002). Από εκρηκτικούς rock n’ roll ρυθμούς ( ‘’Blue Suede Shoes’’, ‘’Hound Dog’,’ ‘’Jailhouse Rock’’, ‘’Wear My Ring Around Your Neck’’, ‘’A Big Hunk O' Love’’) μέχρι υπέροχες μπαλάντες ( ‘’ Love Me Tender’’, ‘’Are You Lonesome Tonight?’’, ‘’It's Now Or Never’’, ‘’Can't Help Falling In Love’’, ‘’Always On My Mind’’). Από δυνατά  rhythm’ blues (‘’ My Baby Left Me’’, ‘’Lawdy, Miss Clawdy’’, ‘’ Reconsider Baby’’, ‘’Steamroller Blues’’, ‘’Big Boss Man’’) μέχρι υπέροχα country ακούσματα (‘’ Funny How Time Slips Away’’, ‘’Loving Arms’’, ‘’Guitar Man’’). Από τραγούδια που σημάδεψαν την pop κουλτούρα  στις αρχές των sixties (‘’Stuck On You’’, ‘’(Marie's The Name) His Latest Flame’’, ‘’ Little Sister’’, ‘’Return To Sender’’) μέχρι τραγούδια που ανέδειξαν την μουσική του ωριμότητα στα τέλη αυτής της δεκαετίες και στις αρχές των 70ς ( ‘’If I Can Dream’’, ‘’In The Ghetto’’, ’’Suspicious Minds’’, ‘’Stranger In My Own Home Town’’, ‘’Kentucky Rain’’).

Όλα αυτά και ακόμα περισσότερα σε μία συλλογή άκρως απαραίτητη όχι μόνο για όποιον σέβεται τη δισκοθήκη του αλλά και για όποιον θέλει να πάρει  μια σφαιρικότερη εικόνα ενός καλλιτέχνη που άφησε το δικό του ανεξίτηλο μουσικό στίγμα.  Ο Elvis Presley θα γινόταν 75 χρονών στις 8 Ιανουαρίου του 2010, Ή μήπως θα γίνει….
