Could you please tell us when and how the band started?
The Hi-Jivers formed in Nashville, TN, in the Spring of 2015. Dawna Zahn (vocals) and Austin John (guitar) had recently moved to Nashville from New York State with the intention of forming an early Rock N’ Roll/Rhythm & Blues band. They were introduced to Hank Miles (upright bass, Seattle) and began writing and performing as The Hi-Jivers.
What are your main influences?
We’re inspired by Delta Blues, Jump Blues, Chicago Blues, early Rock N’ Roll, Rockabilly, early Country Western, and Jazz.
New single titled "One More Time", should we wait for a new record soon?
“One More Time” is a cover of an Ike Turner tune (written by Bill Gayles) that we recorded at Red Lodge Studios here in Nashville. Mixed and produced by Mckinley James. We released our first full length album, “Something’s Gotta Shake” in April 2018 on Wild Records. Prior to joining Wild Records, we had recorded two self-released EPs. You can find links tp purchase all three discs through our website (www.thehijivers.com).

Are you scheduling for any upcoming concerts?
It’s unusual for us to have a weekend off! We play frequently in the Nashville area when we’re not traveling to perform at festivals and out of town venues. You can view our calendar on our website and our Facebook events page. This year, we’re especially excited to travel to Europe to perform at The Rockabilly Rave and The Rhythm Riot!
Would you like to visit Greece for a show?
We would love to! We hope our appearances in the UK this year will lead to other European performances in the future.
What do you think makes Rock n 'Roll and Rhythm & Blues music have a timeless dynamic?
The sincerity, power and soul of Rhythm & Blues and Rock N’ Roll music draws us back every time. We also believe there is an emphasis on tone that elevates the feel of the genres.
